The Blue Ridge Parkway is truly a gem open to the public to enjoy at no cost.  Although you are not guaranteed to see the famous Oscar Mayer Weiner Mobile like we did while driving the Blue Ridge, it is almost a sure thing that you will see spectacular views from just about every turn.   2010 celebrated the 75th Anniversary of the parkway with many popular events throughout the entire year.  The nearly 500 miles the parkway stretches through North Carolina and Virginia displays an array of history including Appalachian culture by observing overlook signs, visitor center exhibits, restored historic structures, and developed areas, all of which reveal points of particular interest.
