The purpose of the Great Smoky Mountain Cabin Owners Association is to ensure Smoky Mountain cabin guests receive a consistently comfortable, quality experience when visiting any member cabin.

The Blue Ribbon Standards are structured to help participating cabins meet the needs and expectations of guests, provide a comfortable and secure environment, and assure a quality standard that Smoky Mountain cabin goers can rely on when choosing a cabin the Smokies.

In short, being designated as a Blue Ribbon Cabin and a member of the Great Smoky Mountain Cabin Owners Association indicates a cabin owner’s commitment to high standards of cleanliness, safety, and maintenance.

EXTERIOR

  • Clean, all garbage out of site
  • Walkways in good shape and free of clutter
  • Parking is appropriate for the occupancy of the cabin
  • Signage identifying cabin can easily been be seen by approaching guests
  • Jacuzzis are chemically balanced and maintained on a regular schedule Blue Ribbon Standards
  • Decks/porches in good repair with enough seating to accommodate guests Blue Ribbon Standards
  • Night Light on Porch/Entryway

Housekeeping

  • Clean windows
  • Carpets and hardwood floors should be clean and swept
  • Light fixtures, ceiling fans, and walls should be clean and free of cobwebs
  • Lined wastebaskets located strategically throughout the cabin

Common Areas

  • Adequate seating for all guests
  • Adequate lighting for reading
  • Clean furnishings
  • TV

Kitchen

  • Clean cabinet interiors/exteriors
  • Kitchen with microwave, refrigerator, oven, coffeemaker, stove
  • Kitchen appliances are clean
  • Dining table accommodates occupancy limit
  • Tablecloths and placemats are clean

Bedrooms

  • Clean linens
  • Lighting close to bed
  • Adequate bed covers for season
  • Nightstand or table on at least one side of the bed
  • Adequate place to store clothes and luggage
  • Bed with a minimum of a mattress cover, two sheets, and comforter
  •  Adequate number of pillows and pillow cases

Bathrooms

  • 1 bath towel, 1 hand towel, and 1 wash cloth per guest
  • Clean towels provided as needed if cabin has no washer and dryer
  • Mirror and wastebasket
  • Proper ventilation
  • Bathroom doors can be locked from the inside
  • Extra toilet paper provided

 

SERVICE AND ADMINISTRATION

  • Records and files kept in an orderly manner
  • Published guest policy covering cancellations/reservations and deposits
  • Published materials and website accurately reflect cabin
  • Phone book and “things to do” information provided to guests
  • Cabin owner easily accessible to guests (via phone or in person)

 

SECURITY

  • Entry door can be securely locked
  • Smoke detector
  • Well-lighted stairs and hallways
